Ursynów Set For Stunning Park Makeover
Established in 2016, and named Park im. Cichociemnych Spadochroniarzy AK after a WWII paratrooper regiment, the park is built around a hill that was constructed on top of leftover construction debris amassed whilst the neighboring housing estates were being built in the 1970s.
The planned redevelopment of the park was first announced in 2018, and in 2019 eM4 Pracownia Architektury Brataniec were selected through a competitive process to redesign it. Now, finally, a tender has been resolved with the winning bid coming in at PLN 7.7 million.
Though this was lower than had been hoped – meaning that several touted features will not be realized – excitement is growing thanks in no small part to eM4’s pedigree: previously, they’ve been credited with reinvigorating the ‘wild side’ of the riverfront after constructing a beautiful boulder-shaped social-educational space.
Where Ursynów is concerned, authorities say that 300 trees will be planted and over 5,000 sq/m of shrubbery.
Additionally, new paths will be built, play facilities, a dog park and a so-called ‘monkey grove’ that will encourage kids into physical activity.
The greenery board stress that the park will maintain its meadow-like aesthetic and that new street furniture will be manufactured using pro-environmental solutions.
